With school started and the fall season fast approaching, many sites will be holding weekend activities.
Craft lovers and creators will be on hand at Mingo Park September 18-19 for the Covered Bridge Festival. The Festival starts at 10 and lasts until 5. Both the Henry and Ebenezer Bridge will be holding festivals. The cost is free, but be warned, the crafts and food are not.
Starting in October, The Spring House will be holding campfire hayrides with pumpkins and s’mores and also their annual Great Pumpkin Weekends. Reservations are required. Contact The Spring House at 724-228-3339 for more information.
Throughout the month of October, both Triple B farm (weekends 10 a.m.-6 p.m.) and Trax Farm (weekends 10a.m.-5p.m.) will be holding their annual Fall Harvest Festival. Both farms have a corn maize, an opportunity to pick your own pumpkins and hayrides out to the pumpkin patches. Triple B farm is located in Forward Township and Trax farm is in Finleyville.
For those of you who want something more than pumpkins, ghost tours will be held from 6 p.m.-10pm at the Nemacolin Castle in Brownsville. Proceeds from the tours will go to the Brownsville Historical Society. Tickets are $7 for an adult and $3 for children 12 and under.
The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum will have trolley rides (on one of their orange trolleys) from 11a.m.-5 p.m. out to a pumpkin patch to pick up a pumpkin. Tickets are $6 for an adult; $5 for a senior (65+); $4 for a child (2-15); under 2 is free.
So don’t sit at home on the weekends and be bored, there are plenty of options!
