The Ringgold Ram football team opened up the season with a loss at home to the Moon Tigers. Despite a strong performance from the Rams’ secondary, Moon proved to be too tough for the Rams. Estevan Herrera, Kyle Fisher-Law, and Robert “Bean” Heller each had an interception for the Rams. Heller, who finished in the top five in the WPIAL in rushing last season, and first in class AAA, also helped on the offensive attack by running for 80 yards on 15 carries. The Rams had a chance to get back in the game towards the end, trailing only 23-15. Rams kicker Robert Crall tried an onside kick that bounced off of a Moon player and under a few Ringgold players but they failed to recover it. Moon took advantage of it and scored on the ensuing drive.
Notes: Moon quarterback Casey Williams accounted for 234 yards of the Tigers’ total offense. The Rams have a chance to bounce back next week, going on the road to face the Mustangs of Laurel Highlands.
