What you choose to do after high school can make or break your future. So if you are planning to go to a college or technical school, it is best to know everything you can about the school. Waiting until your senior year to begin the college search can be problematic, as many schools begin accepting students in October of that year.
Most colleges allow high school students to take tours of the campus during the summer after their junior year, yet it is becoming increasingly popular to start scouting out colleges at the beginning of the student’s junior year. Many area colleges are already having open houses for juniors.
Mrs. Diane Garry, psychology teacher and go to woman for college help, said, “I think it’s a great idea for juniors to start to classify what kind of schools they’re interested in and to visit them.”         Katie Jakub, senior, said that, “I believe that it put me a step ahead of others in my grade because its given me more time to think about what matters most in a college.”
Also, while visiting your school of choice, remember what is most important to you and make sure to ask a lot of questions. Know everything about the schools you are applying to before you make your final decision. Ask freshmen how they feel about the school and what the dorms are like as well as asking about financial aid.
So don’t wait till late in your senior year to search out the next stage of your life, get out to colleges now!
