30 Seconds To Curtain
12.17.06 Colleen Crosby The first show of the year for the RHS Drama Department was good one. We The People was a unique show, from the cast to the set, but the drama department did a wonderful job. “ It was a fun show to do,” said Jen Gilchrest, one of the actors. The show was based on ... Fine Art 4 Student Murals (Part IV)
01.27.06 Colleen Crosby Title: Untitled Student: Rachelle Withrow Place: Musical hall, next to Auditorium door. What to expect: It’s basically Marvin the Martian placed on Planet X. The scene, however, has a classical twist in that the sky (and land if you know what you are looking for) is a representation of Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Why is this important to you?: "My greatest pictures are, or at least start, as doodle-normally in my English notebook. But, this is completely different. It stretched my abilities and forces me to use my imagination. This painting is the first time I’ve ever been able to do something so big and I think it is an honor to express myself in such a large way." ~ Stephanie |

It will be a very colorful mural with lots of red, blue, green and just a little bit of purple. Why is this important to you?: "This is important to me because it represents everything I've learened in art. This is my 'stand out' project. I get to leave my mark on the school... legally." ~ Stephanie |

Fine Art 4 Student Murals (Part II)
01.05.06 Colleen Crosby Title: "Move Over, Junior!" Students: Dave Scheponik, Jordan Mitchell Place: Clay room door (138) What to expect: The mural consists of a scene to give you the impression that you are in a room looking out of holes at a scene of destruction involving robots and a forest. Why is this important to you?: "I want people to see what we've learned and to hopefully inspire them to do just as good" ~ Dave Scheponik " It reflects the last four years of my artistic experience. It broadens my horizons and it makes my portfolio look really good." ~ Jordan Mitchell |

Fine Art 4 Student Murals (Part I)
09.15.05 Colleen Crosby Students: John Boord, Ross Liberatore Place: The right side of the wall between the doors at the end of the hallway with the pool. ( Door 8 ) What to expect: Their mural will consist of three pieces. It will start as serene and peaceful biblical scene. The last piece will consist of a dark, dreary and mystery setting. Both scenes will meet in the middle and morph into the New York City skyline. Why is this important to you?: " Because it's what every artist wants, to have their art on display for all to see. And everyone including myself has worked for four years to get to do this. We're all excited about it." ~ John Boord " This is important to me because I get to do something not too many kids in the school get to do. I worked hard to get this. I got to design the mural and pick where I wanted it to be. I'm excited to show everyone how it turns out." ~ Ross Liberatore |

Ode to the Arts
09.13.06 Colleen Crosby Artistic ability cannot be taught. It is not like Math, English, or Social Studies. Anyone can learn those things if they apply themselves. But the true talent to draw, sing, act, or write cannot be taught. Some people can do these things and some simply cannot. But everyone can try. If these things...
